“I know it is wet And the sun is not sunny... |
With this as the back drop, we have our president providing the following:
"... we contribute to programs like Medicare and Social Security, which guarantee us health care and a measure of basic income after a lifetime of hard work; unemployment insurance, which protects us against unexpected job loss; and Medicaid, which provides care for millions of seniors in nursing homes, poor children, and those with disabilities. We are a better country because of these commitments. I’ll go further – we would not be a great country without those commitments."Allow me to be clear, Mr. President: we are a great country because we are free.
Still, the president droned on:
"We will invest in medical research. We will invest in clean energy technology. We will invest in education. We will invest in job training. We will invest in new roads and airports and broad band."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when this guy says "We will invest", he really means "We will spend". We will spend, we will spend, we will spend. Wow, that's some fiscal restraint you're showing there, Mr. President.
"And we will win the future!""We offered the world ORDER!" What a nutbar. And at what cost, there, professor? How much will all this "investing" of yours cost us? How much more debt do you intend to burden our children with? Spending of tax payer money should be considered carefully, cautiously, not just thrown out on dubious programs that are more payback to your union and government shills then they are instruments that will benefit the country. When will you take your responsibility for addressing the nation's financial woes seriously?
Jeb Hensarling, a Republican from Texas, was appreciative of the president's rhetorical efforts:
"He spent approximately half an hour giving us a history lesson blaming everyone for the nation's fiscal woes, but himself. I don't know about my colleagues, but I thought to myself: 'And I missed lunch for this?' This was not a speech designed for America to win the future. This was a speech designed for president to attempt to win re-election. For the first time in two years the president has joined the deficit debate, and what he brings to the table is more job-killing taxes and more rationing of health care. The American people deserve a budget plan that takes our nation off the road to decline and onto a path to prosperity. New platitudes and new taxes will not grow our economy or solve the spending-driven debt crisis. These record deficits are the symptom – spending is the disease. The only way to grow our economy and save the American dream for our children and grandchildren is to stop spending money that we don’t have.Damn straight.
“In the time since he’s taken office, we’ve experienced the first and second trillion-dollar deficits in American history, and we’re on our way to our third. Unemployment is still hovering around 9 percent. Instead of offering a real plan to cut spending, the president’s resorting back to raising taxes on job creators, which will discourage job creation, destroy economic growth, and do nothing to get spending under control.
But we can have Lots of good fun that is funny!” |
For the past two years the president and the Democrats in Congress have been spending money that we don’t have, record amounts of spending that has left the nation buried under a mountain of debt, burning up the vast majority of available financing and placing a huge inflationary pressure on our economy.
What's next for this guy?
"We are going to find savings in the tax code"
Brilliant.
But how does the land really lie over there? Sometimes we here it's all over for the guy, other times we're told that however blatant a nutjob he is, he's still going to romp to a second term.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the real mood out there?
Both. The serious people among us recognize that he is the most shockingly poor president we have ever had, and the silly among us hook up with Barry on Facebook and think it's cool that he hangs with Jamie Fox and the Hollywood set. The union thugs and government employees are determined to keep the guy in that will keep the gravy flowing, while the citizens of the nation are clamoring for their representatives to stand up for them. It is a battle royal for the future of the nation. We are at a tipping point, with nearly half the nation's voters receiving some sort of support from the government, and the other half paying for it. The future of the nation rides on the outcome. Unfortunately, there has been no well spoken, dynamic conservative to come forth and lead a challenge, and the incumbent president has a tremendous advantage, with ready press coverage and Air Force One to fly around in and supply him with the prestige that the office carries. We should get Darrell to weigh in, Bedes, but that is the basic situation.
ReplyDeleteThe key factor is the media and what is actually reaching the average citizen since this President is the creation of that same media. Many people have given up on the national broadcast media to some extent, but still rely on their local stations. And those stations are filled with journalists that graduated from the same schools as their national brethren and they are as much in the bag for Obama as their cohorts. Getting a different point of view takes time and effort--and more importantly--you first have to realize that it is necessary. That being said, it is hard to counter that all-reaching 24/7/365 spin machine. But people still go to the stores and fill up at the pump, while waiting for the latest news at work that will let them know if they still will have a job.
ReplyDeleteIf the Republicans don't field a candidate that
can convey that there really is a better way--and that way is necessary--Obama will get a second term. The media is doing everything in its power to give us another John McCain--someone to make Republicans and those that are unhappy sit on their hands on election day. If
Huckabee, Trump, Gingrich--or even Pawlenty are put up--expect Obama to win barring a miracle.
Just picture Sean Connery meeting Gov. Pawlenty. "I'm Pawlenty." "Of course you are my Dear. . ."
Now say "President Pawlenty" five times fast. It ain't gonna happen.
It just amazes me that people can't see what a dangerous man he is, as well as inept. America can survive inept - you survived Carter - but with the Middle East ready to explode and Islamic terrorism a daily concern... how spineless does a man have to be before even Democrats realise they're not SAFE?
ReplyDeleteAt some point, people must seriously consider the thesis that Our Zero (Who art The Won) is not merely incompetent, but is actively malevolent.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to see when the media keeps labeling
ReplyDeletehis every speech and action as historic and wonderful, complete with facial expressions usually associated with viewing our one true love. At times they feign not being able to express how they feel in words, saying that right now they can only say wonderful and marvelous or some such. And they don't even know enough to thank Gershwin for the sentiment.
It's hard to counter such a propaganda machine.
The Democrats always believe that everyone is solidly behind them. How can they not be? And they make it quite clear to all who listen that all wannabe bad actors should really be targeting Republicans-- because they deserve it.
But what can you say about a political party like the Democrats that embrace the Cloward–Piven strategy openly when it has the destruction of America at its heart.
