  1. Love it. One of my all-time favorites. I ran track and cross country because, in small part, this movie. . .

  2. When I saw it as a young man I think I was too young to understand it. I saw it toward the end of my competitive running days, and I thought it a good movie about men that had lived a long time ago and were very good runners. Now... I see it more as a movie about young men where running was central, but the essential thing was something else, something deeper. The running was just the arena where the drama played out, and as to the when, utterly irrelevant. It might as well have been yesterday or the day before... but essentially the same as the days we live in now. The world does not change much, nor do we as men living in it.
