Haim lost to us

Corey Haim collapsed in his home and passed away in the night from what were termed 'unknown causes'. Corey struggled with drug use, and they undoubtedly played a role in his demise at 38 years of age.

The trouble with 'innocent' drug use for fun is that for many it ends up spinning out of control to become the person's dominant coping mechanism, and ultimately a heartless, unforgiving slave master. None of this would I want for anyone, least of all Corey Haim, whom I enjoyed immensely in Lucas and License to Drive. Seemed like a sweet kid.

Hollywood is a throw away culture. You have your useful time and then as far as the studio executives are concerned, you're done. Trouble is, once you taste the intoxicating spotlight of fame like Corey did, it is hard to then just lead a normal life. It takes an unusual person to stay grounded through all that.

Of course, Corey was never a throw away. None of us are.

God bless, Corey. Thanks for the fun and humanity you shared with us all. You will be missed.

Sandra Bullock garners Oscar

Well, this is a feel good story for me. What a genuinely likable actress Sandra Bullock is. From her early performances in pieces like The Thing Called Love (which featured an excellent performance by River Phoenix - his last) to a fun show like While You Were Sleeping, to her most recent works like The Proposal, she has great comedic timing and an honest quality that is very refreshing.

Congratulations, Sandra Bullock.

White coats applaud destruction of US Healthcare System

Well, there they are.

Each the absolute picture of health.

The gal second from the left is a nurse, whom the White House dressed for the occaison in a physician consultant's jacket. False advertising? Sure, but wait till they enact the bill to 'improve' our healthcare system.

It was the finest in the world. People would come from all over to find the best care available. And if this team of bozos have their way, it will all be a distant memory. Yes, the Obamanation of the US healthcare system has reached its terminal phase. All that is needed now is for the Democrats in Congress to ignore Senate rules (and more importantly the will of the people) and vote the damn thing in. We will immediately begin to realize the benefit of the higher tax rates. The medical care promised will all start a little later... after the next presidential election.

What is with these guys? Spend the money, then skip town before the bill comes due.

There ought to be law!

Enough with the white coats already

U.S. President Barrack 'Bad Bill' Obama has decreed the will of the people to be no concern of his.

The guy is a shameless poser.

"Onward, lemmings" he cried as he whooped and hollered his rag-tag group of soon to be former Democrat congressmen over the edge of political insanity.

After holding a special healthcare summit meeting to gain the ideas of both sides, the big balooney thrower tossed aside Republican calls to throw out the broad bills passed by the House of Representatives and Senate last year and begin again with a more step-by-step approach.
"Given these honest and substantial differences between the parties ... I do not see how another year of negotiations would help," Obama said.

Yes, well, especially when you have no intention of listening to anyone other than your own liberal buddies. Not the Republicans. Not the American people. Senate rules forbid the reconcilation process to be used for anything other than budget reconcilation. It was a Democrat, Senator Byrd, that wrote the rule in, The Byrd Rule, but these are DEMOCRATS we’re talking about here.

“Senate rules? We don’t need no stinkin Senate rules.”

"Now is the time to make a decision about how to finally reform health care so that it works, not just for the insurance companies, but for America's families and businesses," Obama said.

That's right. It's really unfair now because it is all set to favor certain ill intentioned groups like insurance companies, at the cost of everyone else. Unlike Obamacare, which would raise taxes on everyone and share the burden equally... except for union members...and government employees ...oh yeah, and all the people living in the state of Nebraska (?!).

What a twit. Of all things this nation needs to concern itself with, the most important thing on his mind is the government takeover of the healthcare industry.

Putz.

Journalists consider culpability

Apparently, 'How to report climate change after Climategate?' has been a question troubling our media elites for some time now, and the whole idea was kicked around at a discussion meeting at Oxford University on 26th February 2010.

The question and answer format featured environmental correspondents Richard Black of the BBC, Fiona Harvey (FT), David Adam of the Guardian and Ben Jackson of the Sun, and was chaired by Fiona Fox, director of the Science Media Centre.

Those in the know have been thinking about how best to spin the news. Look at these questions, and let's start with the opener:

"Has the press done a disservice to the public in reporting Climategate? Has media a responsibility to make the public “think the right way”?"

What the hell is that? Are they are asking each other if they did the "right thing" in reporting the news about the document dump from Hadley CRU, the same document dump that released all kinds of materials that had been repeatedly requested to be released through FOI requests (the file was titled FOIA2009.zip, i.e. Freedom of Information Act 2009.zip file), and which had been stone walled by that assclown Professor Jones?

"How to report uncertainty in, for example, Met Office forecasts? What will persuade sceptics and deniers?"

How is it that this panel of journalists view themselves as being in the business of persuading people? What about reporting? What about truth finding? Why would persuading be a goal of the media? This is outrageous.

DA: We can no longer call people deniers. We need a new term. Some people have suggested “climate creationists”.

FH: Sceptics were clever in choosing their name. We do need a new name, denier won’t work because of Holocaust associations.

They are looking for a term to discredit those that are questioning the science and its conclusions, and they are seeking one that will be readily accepted by the public, while at the same time clearly indicating that those people are ideologically driven and don't really know what they are talking about.

How about 'Journalists'?

Stacy is in the right of it often enough, but you can't top this.

"Remember that on Sept. 24, 2008 — the day Crazy Cousin John announced he would suspend his campaign and fly to D.C. to push for the bailout — my initial reaction was “Holy Crap! . . . This is insane.” "

When he calls it, he calls it.
